Invaluable refernce book for data required to carry out my job as a Mechanical Engineering Designer. The information contained within the pages of this book give you the majority of the information required for engineering design thus requring less time looking through other books to get the necessary data you require.
As a desk reference the text is a little small. An additional version of the book that is maybe 7x11 inches with the exact same layout just with larger print along with the exact same spiral binding and paper etc would be ideal

Excellent reference for all engineering aspects. Every engineer should have one of these. Regular reference in the workshop.
Pros
Wipe clean pages and custom tabs
Cons
A bit large for a pocket book, but then it couldn't be full of information.

What made my chose the the blackbook over all the other engineering books. Well for me it was the images. Not only does this book provide all the neccesary information. But it enhances it with images. Opening a new world of knowlegde other engineeringbooks do not have
Pros
Colorfull images like the temperatures of steel hardening by color
Cons
Nothing, for me the book feels complete.

Incredible wealth of knowledge. Like having an experienced old timer by your side. I bought the book originally for the charts. It turned out to have so much more information like drill bit sharpening, lathe tips and tricks, plus so much more.
Pros
There’s a chart for everything!
Cons
I meant to get the small one and got the big one. Now I have to buy another one. I’m so angry (sarcasm).

I have been a machinist for the last 22 years. I purchased a first edition of this book going on 20 years ago, in that time I lost both the front and back covers, a couple of the index pages as well, but for almost daily use for nearly 2 decades i would say it held up pretty dang well. I decided it was time to buy a new one I'm glad I did.
Pros
I like that the pages are not shiny. It is much easier to carry around than the Machinery's handbook. After flipping through my new 3rd edition the section explanations are much better than in my 1st edition.
Cons
The grease proof pages do make it difficult find a pen that can make notes that do not easily smudge, this is only a very minor complaint.
Amazing book for every machinist.
