Use It Daily!

February 8, 2026 By: Gerald Zanussi (Kansas City , United States)

Comments
I’m a hobby home shop machinist and I literally use this book every time I’m in my shop!

Pros
Usually drill bit and tap info, speeds and feeds and end mill selection.

Cons
Would like to see information on chucking reamers with drill bit sizes and dies and types, and gage pins.

Engineers Black Book

February 4, 2026 By: Chris (Portsmouth, United States)

Comments
Another awesome black book that's super easy to reference. I use this book all the time, I love it!

Pros
Easy to reference and small enough to keep readily available.

Cons
Includes tabs to put on pages for quicker reference, but includes a QR code to see what pages they go on. Just include the list with the sticky tabs guys!

Excellent and very practical

February 3, 2026 By: Jeroen Dorrestein (West Betuwe Spijk, Netherlands)

Comments
Prompt delivery upon ordering. I really enjoy the format of this book. Very handy. It’s well put together, sturdy pape. It contains a huge wealth of practical information for any engineer and or machinist. I have spend a number of hours, just going through the many pages to get a feel for all its content.

I like the little tabs that you can add yourself

Pros
Easy-to-use reference book. Beautifully made. I like the lay-flat format.
More than comprehensive enough for my uses as a DIY petrol head and hobby machinist, making his own tools and model engines

Cons
None I can think of yet

EBB 3rd edition (Metric)

January 21, 2026 By: George Winspur (Rochester, United Kingdom)

Comments
At first sight this looks like an ideal workshop replacement for my existing collection of references.

Pros
The lay-flat feature is a great idea, albeit difficult to implement in practice.
I appreciate the option of the large version for greater legibility.

Cons
The user-installable tabs are useful but the selection is not comprehensive eg none for thread tapping sizes; would it be possible to supply blank tabs for completion by the user?
Not clear how you would write on the grease-proof blank pages and it would be nice if extra pages were available for later insertion.

missed info

hi I have gone to do some cnc machining and have noticed there is no G-codes or M-codes in the new 3rd edition engineers black book. I have looked back on a work colleges 1st edition engineers black book and it is in there, which I find werid as cnc machines are becoming more and more common. Being a new edition book I thought it should have it in there.

Pros
awesome book! super helpful for everything.

Cons
has no G-code or M-codes for cnc machining

Galvanic corrosion chart

January 15, 2026 By: Rutger van der weide (Joure, Netherlands)

Comments
I think a galvanic corrosion chart with the potential difference between metals would be a great addiction to this book. And it would be awesome to have some general formulas for strength calculations of beams etc.

Pros
I love the black book really great!

Cons
I’m missing the galvanic corrosion chart

January 14, 2026 By: Randy (Dallas, United States)

Pros
Easy to read print size and the variety of color is nice.

Cons
Don't know of any.
